On July 8th, 2012, Soh Daiko once again participated in the New York Buddhist Church’s Obon Festival in Byrant Park. Along with hours of Obon dancing accompanied by Soh Daiko’s drummers, we played a set which included a very exciting Shi Shi perfomance as well as a guest soloist from the crowd – a former Soh Daiko member who last performed wtih us at Taiko Jam in California.
The following Saturday, July 14th, the Obon dancers from New York City and Soh Daiko boarded a bus to Seabrook, NJ to participate in the 67th Annual Obon organized by the Seabrook Buddhist Temple. The Seabrook Buddhist Temple has celebrated Obon since 1945 and we hope to keep the tradition alive every year to come!
And, as always, on both occassions, Soh Daiko enjoyed the chance to watch and play with their friends, Hoh Daiko, the resident taiko group of Seabrook!
