Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens

Sakura

On Saturday, April 30th, Soh Daiko opened the two-day Brooklyn Botanical Garden’s 30th Sakura Matsuri! With the cherry blossoms in full bloom, thousands of visitors came to the BBG for hanami – cherry blossom viewing – and genuine Japanese entertainment. From our opening performance, which kicked off with one of our newer pieces, Bon Daiko and ended with out signature piece, Hachidan, the audience enjoyed over 60 events from ikebana – flower arrangement,  manga presentations, to J-pop performances (yay for Happy Fun Smile!).

Soh Daiko has performed in the Cherry Esplanade Stage at the BBG for many years now and it has become one of our biggest and most fun events! Thanks for those who caught our early show despite the long lines. Can you guess who this year’s Hyottoko was?  🙂

A special hello and thanks to Traci and Wynn who came to support us and entertain us with Happy Fun Smile’s fabulous performance!

Welcome to the BBG's 30th Cherry Blossom Festival!
