May 8th was a perfect spring day, and how lucky we were to have it, as it was a long one for Soh Daiko! A small portion of Soh Daiko members began the day early, performing for runners and enthusiasts at Central Park’s Bandshell for the Japan Day Run for Hope. Soh Daiko played to support those who are affected by Japan’s recent catastrophes. Thank you to all those ran and showed support for this cause.
The day continued with a full group performance at the 32nd Annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival in Union Square. The sun continued to shine, which not only made audience members happy that it is finally spring, but it brought some extra genki spirit to Soh Daiko members. We are thankful to be able share our love for taiko and Japanese culture. We are also grateful to perform among all the amazing groups at the festival. Happy Asian Pacific Heritage Month!
