Twice the power, twice the fun! Soh Daiko and the NY Suwa Taiko Association made a rare, collaborative performance at yesterday’s 5th Annual Japan Day in Central Park. Although the day was misty and foggy, our groups gave our GANBARE spirit to audience members and the nation of Japan as they rebuild from their multiple catastrophes.
Many thanks to Karl Palma, our sugoii Soh Daiko building manager/kiaii/chappa master, for filming our 15 minute performance. Soh Daiko began with an adjusted Hachidan set, followed by the NY Suwa Taiko Association led by Hiro Kurashima. Our performance ended with combining our super taiko powers for a collaborative piece, which, with only one rehearsal and the stress of counting out measures, miraculously ended together. Subarashii!
Thanks again for those who braved the foggy weather and fear of “the rapture.” We will see you all soon!
