Stamford on the Sound – Disaster Relief Benefit

Stamford on the Sound

On June 18th, Soh Daiko took part in Stamford on the Sound: A celebration of wine and food to benefit Japanese disaster relief. Seven members drove out to Stamford to perform in front of hundreds of guests who wined and dined after making donations towards helping the vicitims of the tragic earthquake and tsunami which hit the Tohoku Region of Japan on March 11th of this year.

The event organizers included Bobby Valentine a former manager of the Chiba Lotte Mariners baseball team in Japan, and a former New York Mets manager, the City of Stamford, and the Japanese American Association of New York (JAANY), among others. JAANY recieved the generous proceeds and donations from event to give 100% of it to benefit the relief efforts in Japan.

Soh Daiko’s rendition of Hachidan was a call to the people of Japan from Stamford, who, as Bobby Valentine said, would be able to hear everyone’s support through the sound of the drums. Thank you to all who organized and supported this successful event!
